Heat Emergencies & Cardiac Events Are Real Risks Outdoors
Immediate CPR and First Aid response can be the difference between life and death before EMS arrives.
OSHA Compliance
OSHA requires employers to ensure workers can respond to on-site medical emergencies. CPR and First Aid certification helps landscape companies meet that obligation and protect their crews.
Protect Your Crew
Your workers are often far from the nearest hospital, working in the heat, around heavy equipment, and with power tools. Trained teammates save lives when minutes matter most.
Reduce Liability & Show Professionalism
CPR-certified crews signal safety-conscious leadership to clients and insurers - and help reduce workplace liability.

Why Landscapers & Outdoor Workers Need CPR Training
Landscaping and outdoor work is consistently ranked among the more physically demanding and hazardous occupations. Your crew works in extreme heat, uses power equipment, and is often far from emergency services.
• Heat stroke and heat exhaustion can escalate to cardiac arrest rapidly
• Power equipment and heavy machinery create traumatic injury risk
• Traumatic bleeding, crush injuries, and fall-related emergencies require immediate First Aid response
• Pesticide or chemical exposure can cause sudden breathing emergencies

CPR Training for Landscapers & Outdoor Workers — Frequently Asked Questions
Does OSHA require CPR certification for landscaping companies? OSHA’s General Duty Clause requires employers to provide a workplace free from recognized hazards, which includes having personnel trained to respond to medical emergencies. For outdoor crews - especially those working in heat or with heavy equipment - CPR and First Aid certification is strongly recommended and often expected during inspections. We recommend confirming your specific requirements with your insurance provider and OSHA guidelines for your industry.
Which course do you recommend for landscaping crews? For most landscaping and outdoor work teams, we recommend the CPR, AED & First Aid - Adult course. It covers the emergencies most common on job sites: cardiac arrest, heat-related illness response, traumatic bleeding, fractures, and choking. Companies with mixed crews that may work around children - such as school grounds or residential properties with kids present - may want the Adult, Child & Infant version.
Can you train at our shop or yard before the workday starts? Absolutely. We offer early morning sessions specifically to accommodate crews that start early and want training done before heading to job sites. Just let us know your preferred time and we’ll make it work.
When do employees receive their certification cards? Same day. Every crew member receives their certification card the day of the class, so you can immediately update your safety records and OSHA documentation.
How long is CPR certification valid? CPR and First Aid certifications are valid for 2 years. Many landscaping companies schedule renewal training in the late winter or early spring - before the busy season kicks in - so the whole crew heads into summer fully certified.
Do you bring your own equipment? Yes. Our instructor arrives with all manikins, AED trainers, and training materials. You just need a space large enough for your group - a shop floor, break room, or even a shaded outdoor area works fine.
